Sault Community Career Centre

Resource RoomNew to the Sault is a Program of the Sault Community Career Centre.

The resource room provides self-directed access to information on local labour market, careers, occupations, training and employment opportunities and job search; computer access to assist in job search; faxing, photocopying; job boards - at both locations and on the website; local and long distance job-related telephone access.

Employment Counseling

Our employment consultants provide one-on-one employment consultations; design of a Return To Work Action Plan; provision of appropriate job leads; help to practice job interviews; referrals to other agencies; advice/guidance on job search, resumes and more.

Workshops

Attend sessions covering resume preparation/update, Service Excellence Certificate, cover letter preparation, Smart Serve Certificate (referral), Personality Dimensions, interview skills and more.

Job Development and Placement Support

This service provides job development, referrals, access to employment opportunities, possible training supports; for the employer provides development of training plans, support for positive working experience, financial savings on advertising, screening of candidates and possible option for reduced training costs.

Internationally Trained Individuals

Specialized assistance to internationally trained individuals includes employment consultation and potential for job development; referrals to other agencies; information on academic credential assessment; Bridge training projects to acquire provincial skills; possible access to training supports and employment opportunities.

Apprenticeship information is available on various program options and qualifications.

Employment Ontario Employment Service

This program connects people with resources, information and referrals to Employment Ontario and other programs and services.

Summer Jobs Service

Job search and self-marketing services to help young people find and keep jobs A wage support is available for jobs with businesses and farms, as well as with non-profit and other organizations.

Fresh Start

Fresh Start is designed to empower individuals through, collaborative identification of personal goals, and the development of strategies to move forward.

Transition Initiative for Older Workers

The Transition Initiative for Older Workers is targeted at workers 55 – 64, and prepares older workers for new and immediate employment and to increase the employability of older workers in communities where there is little likelihood of immediate employment.
